ENGIE Energía Perú — part of the global ENGIE Group — generates and transmits electricity across Peru from six renewable energy plants and more than 600 km of transmission lines. But the company’s existing control room could not keep up: a single video wall was too small to show all plants at once, and a hardware-based KVM switch that required operators to walk between eight SCADA workstations whenever they needed to switch systems. Managing six plants and a national transmission network as one operation demanded a fundamentally different setup — a new Remote Operation Control Center (CCOR) in Lima.
Before the project, the company’s control room was roughly half the size of the current one, limited to a single video wall and a hardware-based KVM switch shared across eight SCADA workstations. Operators had to move between stations to access different systems, and there was not enough screen space to display all six plants at once — which restricted the company’s ability to manage its energy plants and transmission lines as a single operation.
ThinTech Peru, a Lima-based AV integrator, delivered a solution that runs Polywall control room software on a Screenwall SW700 video wall controller — a combination that lets the customer drive multiple video walls from a single machine. Polywall serves as the control room layer for managing five video walls — 26 panels in total — from a single interface. Its built-in Lens feature gives operators browser-based KVM-IP control over the SCADA software projected on the walls, eliminating dedicated KVM hardware.
Since going live, the CCOR operates around the clock with six operators working in three shifts, giving ENGIE a unified environment for real-time remote management of its entire renewable generation portfolio.
Key Results:
With the new Remote Operation Control Center (CCOR) in place, ENGIE Energía Perú improved its response times and gained greater visibility into the SCADA dashboards projected across the video walls. The company also gained KVM IP control over all of its workstations, with the flexibility to scale further as its operations grow.
These results demonstrate the value of the joint Polywall and Screenwall solution in mission-critical environments — enabling optimal remote, real-time management of distributed power assets from ENGIE Peru’s CCOR in Lima.
